Michelle Rhee

Venture Partner

Michelle Rhee is a Venture Partner at Equal Opportunity Ventures, focused on investments in workforce and education. Michelle brings deep operating and policy experience across both sectors. 


Prior to joining EO, Michelle was the Co-Founder of BuildWithin and previously served as CEO of StudentsFirst. Earlier in her career, she was appointed Chancellor of Washington, DC Public Schools, where she led the district through a period of unprecedented academic improvement and enrollment growth. Michelle also founded The New Teacher Project (TNTP), which has recruited and trained more than 23,000 teachers for hard-to-staff schools nationwide. She began her career as a Teach For America corps member in Baltimore, MD.


Michelle earned a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a BS from Cornell University.
